The Emperor Penguin
My animal is the Emperor penguin which is the tallest and heaviest of all the penguin species.These penguins can grow up to 48 in. and can weigh up to 99 lb.Most penguins including this one eats fish and sometimes some crustacean. If you don’t know what that is well it’s mostly krill,cephalopods,and squid.
The Emperor penguin is a very social bird. They live in colonies with hundreds of other penguins. They hunt and nest together. The emperor penguin is most known for its super long journey to find food for their baby penguin. The mother will give her egg to the father and he keeps it under a flap of fat called the brood pouch for nine weeks and she will go hunt for food. When the mother comes back with the food she uses special calls to find the father and her baby chick because there are so many penguins in the colony it is hard to find her family.
Also emperor penguins common enemies are birds, like in Happy Feet, and aquatic mammals. The southern giant petral is a real threat towards penguin chicks.
Another fact is that all emperor penguins are listed as most common or of least concern, but the penguins population might reduce do to more fishermen and and people who hunt their food.
The emperor penguin lives in Antarctica where the weather is below 40 degrees, and to adapt to this harsh weather they use their black and white, and a hint of yellow. The black skin liked we learned in science takes in all the sunlight, while the white keeps in all the sunlight, and keeps the penguin warm through winter in Antarctica.
Clearly the best penguin is the emperor penguin.
